Fallout 3/new vegas

For the last few years of my life, gaming in general has helped shape what I am today. A Constant yet diverse flood of inspiration was the outcome, helping me produce more imaginative and conceptual drawings.
Two game's I used to. and still do, play are Fallout3 and Fallout New Vegas, both of which, has a similar setting to the project proposal, a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Both these have possibly been the most thought provoking and imaginative RPG's I yet to play. The biggest impression would be the vast open space, which was once called 'America', complete destruction apart from a minuscule amount of construction. Numerous other details, including, living space, food and water, weaponry, mutants, cults, violence, nostalgia, a sense of socialism and much much more has been well put in place to give a 1950's style radiation/atomic bomb causing fallout.
So all this small yet major insightful aspects have helped me form an idea of an apocalyptic wasteland.

The Road

I began watching the road as part of research for the Wish you were here project. Since I already have a vast range of imagination of what could happen, I wasn't sure whether the film would inspire me, though I was mistaken.
The whole landscape had a greatly depressing and bleak aura, constantly showered by cloud with barley any sunlight. The film is full of post apocalyptic ruin and chaos, and some truly horrific visuals and themes, but at its heart it's really a drama about a father and his son.
Food is scarce, bands of armed thugs roam the roads looking to take anything from anyone they come across, and hope is all but nonexistent, while cannibalism is a constant threat.

'Wish you were here' - initial research

We got given the title of our new upcoming project, 'Wish you were here'. The aim of the project is to address my critical thinking by developing issues within my chosen practice, namely, illustration, photography or graphic design by using project managing, learning how to execute projects over a long period of time and to be able to work towards producing outcomes to a high standard.

We have to produce a piece which will link to the happening or aftermath of an apocalyptic wasteland. I straight off loved the sound of this project since for years I have indulged myself into this vast landscape of possibilities, watching movies and playing video games which are linked to the genre.

For a start I said to myself I would watch 'the road', so I will post a review/my thoughts.
